The Production Nursery Industry Certification Scheme – Biosecure HACCP
BioSecure HACCP is the on-farm plant protection biosecurity program for production nurseries, growing media suppliers and greenlife markets in Australia. It is a set of protocols and procedures that enable a business to manage plant protection and biosecurity risks by establishing an effective internal quarantine process for both imported and exported plant material.
BioSecure HACCP is designed to assist growers in assessing their current and future pest, disease and weed risks, and guide businesses in the implementation of management strategies at critical control points.
Once BioSecure HACCP Certified, a business has formal recognition of their commitment to managing on-farm plant protection and biosecurity. It also assists these businesses in meeting their broader biosecurity obligations and improving their overall pest, disease and weed management systems. BioSecure HACCP Certified production nurseries have the opportunity to implement specific Entry Condition Compliance Procedures (ECCP’s) for pests of quarantine concern and issue BioSecure HACCP Biosecurity Certificates (BHBC) electronically. The BHBC certifies compliance with the relevant ECCP for a consignment. Ensuring ongoing market access is a priority for any business.
BioSecure HACCP is a program that forms part of the Australian Plant Production Standard – a holistic system designed to ensure a sustainable future production nurseries in Australia.
